THE UNIVERSITY OF OULU, 1993–2018

The University of Oulu’s unique development story has had a significant impact on the development of Northern Finland and made the Oulu region a centre for growth and well-being. At the same time, the impacts of our research and innovation activities can be seen worldwide. We began our story as a regional operator, and we have now developed into a global actor.
The English summary of the University of Oulu’s historical work covers the years 1993–2018. The goal for the creation of this second part of the historical review was to understand the development story of the University of Oulu and to determine the general outline of the university’s history. In this account, the development of the university is examined through a few key themes that characterise this period of time.
